I’ve been listening to some of my older records lately, mostly ones given to me by friends.
Doing this brought me to think about the way I am listening to the music now, in comparison with just a few years ago.
Music one listens to at a certain time period is captured as an impression and later reflected as a memory.
Some songs are heard over and over again, throughout a longer time frame and therefore carry greater influence on an individual.
You hear a song, memories comeback, and ideas arrive new and refreshed. Sounds in a song, seemingly never noticed before,
reveal their presence; or the roles of each particular sound assigned by the listener have taken on a new form. We change the way we listen.* -krys
